1996:
- Farooque Dawood, Chairman, CPBC and Andy Merchant travelled
with Team Canada to South Asian countries.

- CPBC moved its headquarters from Montreal to Toronto.
1997:
CPBC received a delegation from Pakistan interested in the
telecommunication field. The delegates were taken to Ottawa,
Toronto and Montreal and were introduced to major organizations
such as Nortel, Teleglobe and Newbridge.
- CPBC organized a trade mission lead by Andy Merchant. An
agreement between Aga Khan Hospital and Queen's University,
for technology transfer, was signed.
- CPBC organized Pakistan's 50th Independence Day at the Metro
Convention Centre. A very high profile event where leading
politicians and close to 400 distinguished guests attended.
TV celebrity, Zia Mohyedin was invited from Pakistan to perform
with Iqbal Qasim and Jehan Ara.
- CPBC adopted a school in Karachi through Helpline Trust.
1998:

Andy Merchant accompanied Hon. Romeo LeBlanc, Governor-General
of Canada for a state visit to Abu Dhabi, India and Pakistan.
A Pak-Canada trade committee was formed at the Federation
of Pakistan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

An eight member delegation arrived from Pakistan and signed
MOU with private investors for a possible showroom for Pakistani
exporters.
1999:
-
A trade delegation arrived from Pakistan with major interest
in Canadian education. They were introduced to major colleges,
universities and other educational institutes in Toronto,
Kingston and Montreal.

CPBC participated in the one million dollar fund-raising campaign
to establish a permanent South Asian art gallery at the Royal
Ontario Museum (ROM). The target was achieved within the target
time.

CPBC organized the National Day of Pakistan and displayed
art work of leading artists from the collection of Mr. Wahab
Jaffer. Janet Ecker, Minister of Education was the keynote
speaker.

CPBC participated in the business development seminar where
the keynote speaker was Hon. Sergio Marchi, Minister for International
Trade.
2000:
- CPBC organized a trade mission to Pakistan focusing
on IT sectors and was successful in signing a MOU between
CM Inc. and OPSTeC, a highly reputable IT College.

CPBC hosted reception for Minister of State, Mr. Haleem Siddiqui.

CPBC hosted reception for Chief Minister of AJK.
-
CPBC donated Rs. 100,000 for a scholarship fund to LUMS.
2001:
- OPSTeC visited Canada and signed MOU with University of
Waterloo for technology transfer.

CPBC promoted CNG products of Canada whereby Canadian companies
received substantial orders.

CPBC hosted a reception for leading business people visiting
from Pakistan. Dalton McGuinty, Leader of Liberal party spoke
at the event.
2002:
- CPBC participated with other South Asian Business organizations
at the launching of the South Asian Trade Action Plan by Hon.
Pettigrew, Minister for International Trade.

CPBC organized the largest trade mission to Pakistan. An 18
member team included Mr. Jim Karygiannis, MP, and the Trade
Commissioner, Mr. Arif Ahmed Khan. The delegates participated
in the International Chamber of Commerce conference in Karachi.
Minister for Industry and Trade, Mr. Allan Rock gave a letter
for the President of ICC, Mr. Tariq Rangoonwala which was
presented to him by Andy Merchant. MP Jim Karygiannis brought
the greetings from the Prime Minister. Meetings were held
with leading politicians and business people.

Dr. Atta-ur Rahman, Minister of Science and Technology, visited
Canada at the invitation of CPBC with Pakistan software Export
Board (PSEB) team. He was introduced to large IT companies
and also visited Nortel in Brampton.

CPBC welcomed the Nazim of Karachi, Mr. Nematullah Khan in
Toronto in July.

A small delegation participated in ITCN conference in Karachi
in August. As a result, Softlight Inc. signed 22 colleges
and universities to offer educational products.

CPBC organized a lunch with South Asia Business Council Alliance
(SABCA). The keynote speaker was Hon. Allan Rock, Minster
for Industry and Trade.
2003:
- In February, a seminar was conducted through SABCA with
High Commissioners and representatives of Canadian government
posted in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka and Nepal.
- CPBC sponsored two events, Mehran to Khyber and Qawwali
Mehfil to celebrate South Asian Heritage month in May.
- CPBC donated $4,000 in June towards Daniel Pearl Scholarship
to bring a Pakistani journalist student to study in Canada.
- CPBC signed MOU with Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters
in June to enhance trade between Canada and Pakistan.
- In July, CPBC organized a seminar for Hon. Humayun Akhtar,
Minster of Commerce and introduced him to leading business
people.
- In September, CPBC signed MOU with the Pakistan National
Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Mr. Tariq Rangoonwala, President, who came from Pakistan for
the signing ceremony.
- CPBC signed MOU with the Royal Commonwealth Society of Toronto
Foundation also known as The Commonwealth Advantage, headed
by Hon. Sinclair Stevens, ex-Federal Minister of Industry
and Trade, to promote IT and other sectors between Canada
and the commonwealth countries.
- Andy Merchant to visit Pakistan with Hon. Allan Rock, Minister
for Industry and Trade. CPBC will be signing MOU with Federation
of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
